Hi, I’m Suzy.
I run Heart of Gold Sanctuary, a nonprofit horse rescue on a 30-acre ranch in Cloverdale, Sonoma County. Since 2018 we have saved 56 horses, and every horse living with us now is a lifer who will spend the rest of their days here.
Caring for a herd teaches you fast which products are worth the money and which ones fall apart in the first winter storm. Tried and True is where I share the ones that earned their place: the feed and supplements our animals thrive on, the gear that holds up to ranch life, and the clothes and home goods I feel good about. When you shop through our links, the brand pays a small commission that goes straight to hay, feed and vet care for the horses. Meet the herd at heartofgoldsanctuary.org.
Our Pinky Promise
Our logo is two pinkies locked together, because a pinky promise is the most honest promise there is. We will never recommend something just because it pays well. If we wouldn’t use it on the ranch or give it to someone we love, it doesn’t go on the shelf.
Tried
We use it ourselves, on the ranch, with the animals, or in our own homes, or we research it carefully before it ever makes the list.
True
We favor brands that are well reviewed, made with clean materials, and fair to the people and animals behind them. And every commission helps rescued horses.
